About the role
Shantara is looking for an experienced Executive Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping operations and maintain consistently high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation across the retreat.
You will be responsible for guest rooms, public areas, linen and housekeeping operations while leading the housekeeping team and ensuring that every space is prepared to the standards expected of a wellness retreat.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong attention to detail, team management and operational discipline.
What you’ll do
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department.
- Ensure guest rooms, public areas and other assigned spaces consistently meet Shantara’s cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Plan daily room assignments and coordinate room readiness with the Front Office.
- Conduct regular room and public-area inspections.
- Recruit, train, supervise and develop housekeeping team members.
- Prepare duty rosters and manage staffing according to occupancy and operational requirements.
- Establish and maintain cleaning schedules, checklists and departmental procedures.
- Manage linen, uniforms, guest supplies, cleaning materials and housekeeping inventory.
- Monitor consumption and control wastage without compromising guest standards.
- Coordinate linen movement, laundry requirements and stock levels.
- Ensure proper use, storage and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Report maintenance issues promptly and follow up until they are resolved.
- Maintain housekeeping records, inventories and departmental reports.
- Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety and infection-control practices relevant to a wellness environment.
- Work closely with Front Office, Maintenance, Wellness and other departments to ensure a smooth guest experience.
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience in a housekeeping leadership role within a hotel, resort, wellness retreat or similar hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of guest-room cleaning, public-area maintenance, linen management and housekeeping procedures.
- Experience supervising and training housekeeping teams.
- Strong eye for cleanliness, presentation and attention to detail.
- Ability to plan manpower and organise work according to occupancy.
- Good understanding of housekeeping inventory and cost control.
- Ability to maintain standards consistently through inspections, training and follow-up.
- Good communication and team-management skills.
- Working knowledge of hygiene and workplace safety practices.
- Ability to communicate in Malayalam and basic English.
Experience in a resort, wellness retreat or other service environment where hygiene and guest comfort are particularly important will be an advantage.
